2009 is here! [15 Feb 2009|08:40pm]

Alright guys... We're going to get this community back up and running. :D

title or description
DAYUM HE LOOKS GOOD IN BLACK!

beautifulxmoon is our new co-mod... she pretty much rocks so yeah.

So, let's talk about the season so far. Obviously Casey finished 15th. I don't know about you guys, but I am super excited about this season. So far, he's been able to relay the adjustments he has wanted to Gil and gotten the car better. Then, he works his way through the field quicker than I've ever seen him do =D This might, finally, be Casey's year.

I don't know about ya'll, but I'll be happy if he finishes the season higher than the 5 car. I want him to prove he is better than last season. We all know he is... and I hope the Nascar world will be shown that with Casey at RCR :D

Just so ya'll know, I am going to post some icons soon... we all need some good Casey back in black icons!

Samantha Mae Mears [09 Oct 2008|11:37am]

greeneyedsarah
She's here!!! Samantha Mae Mears was born Oct. 7th at 12:42pm, 8lbs. 7oz. 20 3/4 inches long. Sam has a lot of dark wavy hair and is just as pretty as she can be!! Mom and Dad are doing fantastic! Nana and Papa are doing pretty well too. Sam's middle name is after Grandma Skip as her real name is Mae. -- Casey's Mom on his message board

YAY!! Congrats to Casey, Trish, Carol, Roger, and the entire MEARSGANG for the newest little member!

I can't wait to see baby pictures... sounds like she got Casey's hair, poor thing lol. I'm sure she's gorgeous, as her parents are beautiful people. =D

[[Note: With Casey's big move to RCR in 2009 and it being kinda his "last shot" in Cup racing, I am going to do my best to get this community active again. I've had a rough time over the past 18 or so months and livejournal hasn't really been my top priority. I might be looking for a new co-mod as my current one has abandoned livejournal. :( I just thought we needed Baby Mears talk around here lol.

I'll keep ya'll posted on what I'm planning to do... thanks for still being a member! :)]]

After pouting because I thought I would miss the Busch race last night, I discovered that nascar.com was showing it, free of charge.

Hopefully he can translate the good finish last night to a good finish today. I am confident that he will.

DARIAN GRUBB! If you haven't heard the news, Darian was named Casey's crew chief. He comes from the 48 team. If you recognize the name, it may be because his great success taking over the chair while Chad Knaus was suspended the first four races of the 2006 season. Darian lead Jimmie Johnson to 2 wins, one runner-up spot, and a 6th place in four races. :D (and, he's from my hometown and is an alum of my university!) I couldn't be more excited for this season!

Also guys, I posted some Casey icons in ridinxdirty. Check them out!

One more thing-- I have a small announcement some of you may be interested in... scarlett78 from 1stoffpitroad set up a Nascar Nextel Cup fantasy league at Foxsports.com.

Here is the link: http://msn.foxsports.com/fantasy/auto/index.asp

Set up a fantasy account by making a team, then join a league. The league's name is "1stoffpitroad." Join it for some fantasy fun!

PS-- Where are you guys? Let's see some posts/comments about our boy as he begins a new season driving for a new team!

Okay kids! It's gettin' close to that time... Casey has been testing at Daytona with Jimmie and the season is about to begin!

So, with that being said, I have updated the layout of the community and turned it into the new and improved #25 scheme. Hope ya'll like it :)

Here's a little Casey tidbit for ya-- http://sports.yahoo.com/nascar/news?slug=jb-offseasoncapsules12_012907&prov=yhoo&type=lgns

I have some new Casey icons if anyone wants to use them. Just look in my icons and anything that says "made by greeneyedsarah" is free for the taking, as long as you credit me please :)

How are ya'll feeling about Casey's move to HMS now? I'd love to get some dialogue going on that. I'm really excited for him. This could finally be what he needs to get in the Chase and contend for a Championship. Thoughts on that?

Oh, and tell your friends about the community!! The season is drawing near!

Martinsville [24 Oct 2006|11:25pm]

greeneyedsarah
I posted some really great Casey pics I took this weekend at Martinsville in the forum on his website:
http://mears.netgarage.net/viewtopic.php?t=3022

And for more, here's my webshots of the whole weekend:
http://good-times.webshots.com/album/555100953pHift

It was a great race... Gordon and Johnson both had great things to say about Casey after the race. I don't know about ya'll, but I was pretty pissed off at Newman for wrecking Casey early... but I was absolutely livid with David Gilliland. Thank God Case didn't hit anything! I think our boy may be headed for 13th spot in the points for the season!

And Casey was just as sweet and adorable as he always is :)

PS- Sorry I haven't kept this community up, but along with the whole fan atmosphere of "Can't wait until next season with HMS" is going and less and less Casey fans have very high expectations for the rest of this season, I have stopped really supporting Ganassi. I keep hearing about Montoya and how he'll be in the 42 as soon as he's cleared to run Cup, and I'm upset that Ganassi would do that to Casey. We'll see how that turns out. But let's still hope for a win for Casey in the 42 before season's end!

Update [10 Aug 2006|09:41am]

greeneyedsarah
GRRR.

Just to let you guys know, Casey will no longer have a merchandise trailer at races. You can find his stuff at Stremme's trailer. Casey will still be signing, so check Stremme's trailer for the times.

In other news, Silly Season is still going strong, and there's some messed up stuff going on in Nascar right now. I'd like to hear some opinions them.

*In the last lap at Indy, the caution flag did not come out when Robby Gordon and Greg Biffle spun. The Nascar rules clearly state that the caution flag is to come out with the checkered flag immediately if a wreck occurs after the white flag has flown. For some reason it didn't. If it had, Kasey Kahne would not have kept racing Tony Stewart, causing his scary wreck, and he would have finished in the top ten and would not have fallen out of the top ten in points. Once again, Nascar is not being consistent with enforcing it's own rules. Thoughts?

*Jeremy Mayfield is not currently listed as an employee of Evernham Motorsports, and Bill Elliot will be replacing him this weekend. Feelings? Personally, I think there's a very big issue in that team, and I don't know what it is. Jeremy is a good driver who made the Chase last season.

*Dale Jr. has released Mark McFarland in the Busch Series from the Navy car. Junior thanked Mark for all the work, but said as a car owner he needed to keep the sponsors happy, and they weren't. Feelings on that?

*Anybody see the Ricky Bobby movie this weekend? How do you feel about it? Some people are saying it portrayed Nascar fans to be stupid. But if you remember, Will Ferrell also portrayed news anchors to be stupid. I don't think it was meant to hurt our feelings-- just make us laugh at ourselves!

*Rumors are saying neither Casey nor Elliott Sadler will be in their cars after the Chase begins. If this happens, I'd look for Elliott to ride in the #19 the rest of the season, and I'm willing to bet HMS would scrap up a quick team for Casey.

Also, sorry I haven't been updating much lately. I am moving into an apartment at my college and finishing up the last few days of my summer job. I should be back here and going strong by tomorrow afternoon :D

Ganassi Still Ganassi

Juan Pablo Montoya will be a fine Nextel Cup driver someday, and he very well could be terrific as early as next year. But how will we know? One thing that’s been lost in the hoopla over a current Formula One driver moving to NASCAR is the lack of performance by the Chip Ganassi Racing team over the last couple of years.

A Ganassi-owned car hasn’t won since 2002, when Jamie McMurray pulled off a stunner at Charlotte. In 2003, Ganassi’s drivers were 13th, 18th and 35th in the point standings, and in 2004 they were 11th, 21st and 22nd. Last year, McMurray was 12th and then he bolted for Roush Racing, Casey Mears was 22nd and Sterling Marlin 30th in his final year before leaving for MB2 Motorsports. This season, team leader Mears is 15th, while rookies Reed Sorenson and David Stremme are 22nd and 35th, respectively, though Stremme didn’t run the road course at Sonoma.

The point of all those mediocre numbers? Montoya isn’t stepping into a Hendrick or Roush car, so even if he drives his butt off – and I have no doubt he will – it will be difficult to gauge his performance. Say Montoya goes to Bristol and finishes 15th, one lap down. Disappointing? Maybe not. Anyone who expects Montoya to come in and win races is kidding themselves. Maybe when and if Ganassi gets its program running well, Montoya can be fairly judged.

Until then, he’ll be a middle-of-the-pack driver because Ganassi is a middle-of-the-pack team.

And after watching all three of the Ganassi/Sabates cars perform on Sunday, I'm convinced the only thing that will keep Juan Pablo Montoya out of victory lane next year will be the Ganassi/Sabates cars.

I was not happy with Casey's decision to move to HMS when it first happened. I am a Dodge girl that grew up a Rusty fan, and Rusty fans are NOT Jeff Gordon & Co fans. But I'm excited that Casey will finally be on a team that is up to today's standards in racing. And I've fully accepted and embraced his future at HMS, even if it's in the (supposed) cursed 25 car.

Is it just me, or does anybody else think this is not a bright move.

I know he is a big name, I also know it will be seen as quite a coup to get a F1 driver to switch to NASCAR, on the other hand, he has no stock car experience and is for the most part being thrown directly into the Cup Series without much chance of getting experience.

I wish him all the luck but I think he is going to fall flat on his face. I think that because of who he is, he will be expected to do very well right from the get go and it is just not going to happen, especially in Ganassi equipment.

Thank you for starting this community, and then for letting me know. I am a member of some other NASCAR communities that are very dead and it will be great to be part of one that is active. It looks good so far, keep up the good work.

Pennsylvania 500Collapse )
Not a great day for Casey. His car was horrible, and when he took 2 tires and came out of the pits 5th, he went straight back. I don't know about you guys, but I know Casey is a better driver than consistently finishing 20th-25th. I understand teams having a bad day and not being able to run well, but not every week. Instead of having a bad day every now and then, the 42 team has a good day every now and then. :(

The big story today, however, was Tony Stewart. Clint Bowyer was crowding Tony going into Turn 3, and Tony got loose and corrected. But coming out of Turn 3, Tony slammed into Clint, which pushed Clint into Carl Edwards. Tony was black-flagged, but Carl was upset and next time he was near him, he sorta waved at Tony, and Tony gave him the finger. So, Carl turned Tony going into the pit lane. He said he waited to do it till he was sure it wouldn't mess anyone up. It didn't, but Carl was also black-flagged. In the post race interview, Tony chastised young drivers in the series, saying they needed to learn how to drive. Thoughts on that?

In any case, Casey is still 15th in the points standings, 292 points out of the cutoff for the chase. There are now only 6 races until the chase, and the Brickyard is next weekend. Can Casey still make the chase? Of course. If Jimmie Johnson and Matt Kenseth have some unfortunate luck, everyone will gain some ground on them. But it will be very hard to gain on them with the mid-pack finishes he's had all season. Do you think he can do it?

</small>Also, could you guys help spread the word about this community? Just a little note in your journal, or maybe telling any of your lj friends you know likes Casey. I'd really like to see our little community grow :)
